Guatemalan photographer Mario Linares, who does occasional work for Reuters, is one of four journalists abducted by former paramilitary members in La Libertad, about 200 miles north of Guatemala City. The four journalists of the Prensa Libre newspaper were captured during a demonstration in the country's western highlands and were being held tied up on a highway. Government negotiators, backed by army troops, were sent to the area on Sunday night in an effort to win the journalists' release.
